Paul Jensen
Founder & Lead Researcher
I started SleepReports because shopping for sleep products is genuinely confusing. Every brand claims to be the best, specs are written to sound impressive rather than be useful, and far too many “review” sites simply rank whoever pays the highest commission. I wanted a resource that does the opposite.
Here's how I work. For every product, I dig into the things that actually predict how a mattress, pillow, or sleep aid performs: manufacturer specifications and materials, independent lab data and third-party certifications (such as CertiPUR-US), warranty and trial terms, and large volumes of verified owner reviews read over time to separate signal from noise. I then score each product against the same published criteria (support, pressure relief, cooling, motion isolation, edge support, and value) so any two reviews are genuinely comparable.
I'm equally clear about what I don't do. SleepReports is a one-person, independent publication, not a materials lab, and I'll tell you plainly when an assessment rests on research and owner feedback rather than something I can measure first-hand. I keep reviews updated as products change, and affiliate commissions never buy a better rating or a place on a list. If something isn't worth your money, I'll say so.
- Evaluates mattresses, pillows, and sleep aids using manufacturer specs, independent lab data, certifications, and verified owner reviews
- Scores every product against the same published criteria for fair, directly comparable reviews
- Independent and reader-supported: affiliate commissions never influence a rating
